Labour Market Barometer 2026

von Rundstedt Switzerland has analysed its labour market data for 2025 and compiled the latest statistics. This barometer is based on information from 2’668 people affected by redundancies and from 415 companies from various sectors that had to make redundancies in Switzerland in 2025.

The year 2025 was characterised by restrained economic growth in Switzerland and the EU, alongside slowing momentum in the United States. Global geopolitical tensions and US tariff policies led to increased uncertainty in investment planning, while exports, particularly in the industrial sector, were weighed down by weak international demand. The pharmaceutical industry and services sector, however, showed resilience, supported by stable domestic consumption, which continued to underpin both economic activity and employment.

Pascal Scheiwiller, CEO of Alixio Group and von Rundstedt Switzerland, comments: “The labour market remains capable of absorbing workforce transitions, even if younger jobseekers require more time to find employment and pressure on older workers persists.” For 2026, the Swiss economy is expected to grow below its potential, with unemployment rising slightly. “Nevertheless, the labour market is expected to remain well balanced and stable”, Pascal Scheiwiller adds.
